Simplicity 4737 Early Printed Pattern
©1943
Jumper and blouse: the blouse is slimly fitted with darts at the waistline and the shoulder yoke is joined to the softly gathered edges of the front and back. Self fabric ruffling on lace edging outlines the neck, revers and sleeves. The jumper is tucked at the shoulder and the gored skirt falls in on easy flare. The blouse can be cut from a man's shirt and the jumper from an old dress, for which instructions are included.
BUST 36
Waist 30
HIP 39
PATTERN: UNCUT and Factory Folded
INSTRUCTIONS: Included (Simplicity "Primer")
ENVELOPE Condition: Good for age, some tears, a bit brittle
Amazing example of 1940s frugality and fabric shortage - the primer has instructions on how to recycle a man's shirt for the fabric for the blouse, and how to use an old dress for the fabric for the jumper.
